A three year project exploring the life of my grandmother who spent 45 years in an asylum in Bristol, diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia. This project culminated in the exhibition in a joint show with Michael Jessing at The Gallery, Tweeddale Museum, 2015. This exhibition included mosaics, paintings, sculptures, film and was accompanied by the book Gertrude. This project also included the live performance Gertrude – a Life coupled with the film I Call Her Gertrude, which was shown at Glenside Campus, UWE, Bristol 2015 and at Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre, Peebles 2014. Workshops across the Borders were carried out with members of New Horizons and an exhibition of members work was held at Eastgate Theatre and Arts centre in 2014.
South of Scotland Visual Artist and Craft Makers Award 2015 and 2013 funded by Creative Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council and Scottish Borders Council, for developing the films I Call her Gertrude and Why did Jonah swallow the Whale? Both are part of the project Gertrude.
